Thanks to Mrs. Henry and Mrs. Smith for planning our school-wide assembly... thanks to those who provided snacks, drinks, games, and crafts for parties... and thanks to all of you who braved the cold to enjoy our parade today!

11th graders had their College Tour this month. They spent their morning at Kansas Wesleyan University to see what a private college looks like. We met with our admission rep and learned about what KWU has to offer and scholarships for Saline county residents. Mrs. Miller is a KWU graduate and accompanied us. She attended KWU on a music scholarship and was able to tour the US and Europe. We saw Joni Schroeder (Class of '23) and Raegan Goetz (Class of '23) while we were there.

10th graders headed to Great Plains Manufacturing after visiting KWU. GPM is like a small city! They have manufacturing jobs, human resources, sales (story-tellers), marketing, robotics, content creators, nursing, and more all on their campus. It was really interesting to hear everything that goes into running a global company. We even got to see SES alumni Jasper McDowell (Class of '22) in our presentation!

Southeast of Saline Scholar's Bowl brought their all today at Lincoln, as our Trojan Scholar's Bowl Team placed 1st place out of 21 teams at the Lincoln tournament. After starting slow at 1-1, the team rallied together to win the next 4 matches and just barely make the final championship pool of 6. The team continued to persevere as it won all 5 matches during the championship pool and took 1st place with a 10-1 record overall in the tournament. Great job to the following competitors who never gave up even when playing some of the toughest teams in the state:
Ali Richardson
Austin Hanson
Ben Grauerholz
Landon Albrecht
Luke Obermeyer

🎃 REMINDER! The elementary Halloween parade will be at 8:45 tomorrow morning! Please line the north and east sidewalks. Parties will begin once the parade is complete! Bundle up! We look forward to seeing you! 🎃

10/11th graders interested in the Dual Enrollment program at SATC were able to tour last week. They were able to meet with advisors, shadow a student, and hear from instructors what the program is about. Many have committed to Business Administration, Welding, and HVAC with more to come! Way to go Trojans!!

Weekly SES Schedule

🏆 Congrats to our XC boys on a 2nd place 3A state finish and to our girls as 1st place 3A state champions! 🏆 What a season it's been!

Trojans are headed to Rim Rock today for State Cross Country, looking to bring home some hardware.
Good Luck Trojans!

Along with the College Tour to KSU - Polytechnic the 8th graders also visited Salina Area Technical College. They have a lot to offer our students! Students can start taking general education classes through SATC starting their Sophomore year. Then, during their JR and SR year they can head to the SATC campus to spend part of their day learning a trade. We even got to see our very own, Keaton Blake, in the Machine & Manufacturing Technology department. He showed us his current assignment which was to cut out a cube, which is harder than you think. He had to have it accurately cut to within 1/3 the width of a human hair. Keaton said his was closer than that!

8th graders visited Kansas State University - Polytechnic on their College Tours. We were lucky enough to sit in a helicopter and airplane, we learned about their new virtual reality program, we met a robot that could dance to "Gangnam Style", we learned that your Uber driver will most likely be a drone within 10 years (cars that drive themselves), and a big hit was the ice cream in the Union.

Our Trojans are state bound! Good luck to our XC runners! Join us tomorrow at Rim Rock to cheer loud!

Things are getting scary in Mrs. Smith’s class!
The sixth graders were provided with a stencil to craft their own unique Halloween decorations using the 3Doodler pens. They were encouraged to incorporate any additional creative elements they desired.
