WHAT IS SCHOLARS’ BOWL?
Scholars’ Bowl is an academic competition between schools. It is based
on 16 question rounds with questions from the areas of language arts,
social science, mathematics, science, fine arts and current events.
DO WE HAVE PRACTICE?
Scholars’ Bowl practices about 2-3 times per week. The schedule is
created after the 1st meeting.
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE ON ATEAM?
A tournament team consists of six players. Different teams of players are
selected to compete in different tournaments. More than one team
may go to the same tournament.
HOW DO I GET SELECTED TO GOTO A TOURNAMENT?
Go to practice and sign up for the tournaments that you
want to attend.
WHEN DO THE TOURNAMENTS TAKE PLACE?
Most tournaments are after school, a few are on Saturday. See the
schedule.
ARE ANY TOURNAMENTS FOR FRESH/SOPH?
Yes, some tournaments are designated as fresh-soph only.
CAN I EARN A LETTER IN SCHOLARS' BOWL?
Yes, you must earn 100 points during the season. Points are earned by
attending practice, scoring and placing at a tournament. See the lettering
requirements.
DO I HAVE TO BE AN “A”STUDENT?
No, the scholars’ bowl team is made up of students who have strengths in
different areas.
HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON IN SCHOLARS’ BOWL?
Check the bulletin board outside Mr.Sauber’s room for the practice and
tournament schedules. Sign up for tournaments there also.
HOW CAN I PRACTICE OUTSIDE OF REGULAR PRACTICES?
Use the quizlets at quizlet.com and search for bsauber.
